About

WORM is located on the northeastern part of Awaji island, in the middle of a farming community overlooking the bay of Osaka.

With its generally temperate climate and plenty of sunshine, the area is caressed by the gentle breeze coming through, It is nestled on a gentle hill overlooking the broad landscape, which shares the view of the ocean and sky, Yet this pastoral landscape can be easily accessed from nearby cities.

Our family fell in love with the location and has called it home since 2020.

The property houses the guest complex where our guests will be staying, adjacent to the main house next door, where we live (the first floor of the guest complex is my husband’s design studio.)

Behind the two buildings, there are patches of terraced fields reserved for growing vegetables, along with a variety of herbs and fruit trees. Our guests ,may join us to collect and harvest the different crops, depending on the season.

We have already begun to enjoy what the soil has provided us.

The seasonal colors and sounds may tickle and stimulate your senses, while the daily chores of toiling the soil and the rewards that come with it can nourish us and become food for our souls.

By sharing these experiences, we hope that your stay here may toil the “soil” of your soul and enrich your senses.

*During your stay, as much as we respect your privacy, we DO live on the same grounds (practically next door!), Therefore, there will be moments where our lives may cross. And we hope that you would understand and possibly enjoy our chance encounters as much as we will.

About elements

About elements

elements is a collaborative project initiated in 2015 by 3 members, which consists of Yosuke Okita, graphic designer Michio Yokoyama and architect Masahiko Inoue.
Through the process of product making and design, elements aims to explore the many phenomena and elements that exist around us. These ideas are presented in exhibition formats in different locations.

WORM is the first attempt for it to function as a “real” media which represent concepts and essences of the project. Again, original products from the project can be seen throughout the property.
